PONY BOY

Pony Boy is a four year old 13 hand mustang who we know very little about. Except he needed a ride out of the kill pen in Oklahoma with a soft landing at the end of his freedom ride. He was rescued with our darling boy, Graham Cracker, with both embarking on a whole new experience that we can’t wait for them to have. Plucking another couple of animals out of their living hell never ever gets less thrilling or spectacular. Knowing how their lives are now going to change for the better and feeling such a sense of pride that we managed this again thanks to your support and kindness is overwhelming and humbling.

Pony Boy is tiny and we were sure he was a yearling, he’s so small and thin, but we checked his brand and he was born wild in 2019 and rounded up as a yearling but is now four. And the really extraordinary part is that he’s from the same herd as Coyote who is also a tiny pony. He’s super skinny too and we have brought them to the other Malibu ranch to finish up their quarantine before meeting more friends. They need peace and time to heal and extra food, space to decompress and recover from the long haul from Oklahoma.

Thank you never seems enough but I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Today lives were saved and hearts mended and we can’t tell you how grateful we all are. We will be meeting them soon enough so hang in there boys - you’re coming to Skydog #skydogponyboy

Mustangs and Burros Need Your Help

In addition to supporting our work by donating, becoming a patron on Patreon, or sponsoring a Skydog, there are several important pieces of legislation to protect American equines currently moving through Congress. It only takes a few minutes to contact your Rep and Senators and urge them to support these bills:

Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act of 2023 (H.R. 3475 in the House / S.2307 in the Senate). This bill will shut down the slaughter pipeline that sends some 20,000 American horses and donkeys to savagely monstrous deaths in foreign slaughterhouses every year.

The Wild Horse & Burro Protection Act of 2023 (H. R. 3656) This bill will prohibit the use of helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft in the management of wild mustangs and burros on public lands, and require a report on humane alternatives to current management practices.

Ejiao Act of 2023 (H.R. 6021). To ban the sale or transportation of ejiao, a gelatin made from boiling donkey skins, or products containing ejiao in interstate or foreign commerce, which brutally kills millions of donkeys primarily for beauty products and Chinese medicine.
